Breaking Silos
”Stopping leadership burnout and
building a healthy organizational culture.”
Breaking Silos is the foundation of our Church Health System and the work we do with leaders and organizations.
It began with founder Justin McMahan's own leadership story. Justin experienced firsthand what happens when leadership pressure, personal wounds, and an unhealthy organizational culture collide. The result was burnout, isolation, and eventually a season away from ministry.
But that wasn't the end of the story.
The years that followed became a process of healing, learning, and taking an honest look at leadership—not only at what had happened around him, but also at what needed to change within him. As Justin returned to leadership, he began recognizing many of the same patterns in other leaders, teams, churches, and organizations.
That journey eventually became Breaking Silos.
The book explores how poor leadership intelligence, unhealthy organizational culture, and unaddressed leader brokenness can feed one another until trust erodes, relationships fracture, leaders burn out, and teams retreat into silos.
More importantly, Breaking Silos is about what comes next. It provides a framework for identifying what's happening beneath the surface, addressing the root problems rather than just the symptoms, developing healthier leaders, and building cultures where people can work together and thrive.
Those principles became the foundation for the Breaking Silos Church Health System and continue to shape our assessments, tools, coaching, consulting, and training today.
